In the wake of the Corona Virus pandemic, for the summer 2021 industrial training that involved travelling and also contacts with other people; HSBTE with approval from the competent authority is releasing new guidelines (for the year 2021 only) for Industrial Training for Diploma Students of Govt./Private Polytechnics who are presently in their 4th Semester and are supposed to do their 4/6/8 weeks Industrial Training after their exams as per the curriculum and their study schemes. It is being advised to all the affiliated students of Govt./Private Polytechnics to follow the necessary social distancing norms during the pandemic. The students will follow option-1 to complete the certification and number of weeks requirements for the Industrial Training, though based on the prevalent COVID situation, Principal/TPO may allow any one out of the following options:
Student may undergo minimum 4/6/8 Weeks Industrial Training (arranged by the student or facilitated by the Institute) by physically being present in the company following all norms and procedures as recommended by State Government for COVID-19 prevention.
Student may take up any online course/s from any of the recognized online platforms like NPTEL/ SWAYAM/Any AICTE recommended E-Learning platforms/Work from home options of INTERNSHALA/ (Detailed List as per Annexure-A) or any online industrial training and assignment offered by a renowned industry for 4/6/8 weeks duration (as per their curriculum and study scheme) and delivers the requisite outcome online on topics related to his/her program under the guidance and suggestion from the respective Mentor.
The student shall virtually/ remotely study the profile of a reputed Industrial Organization related to his/her Diploma program and prepares a detailed report highlighting the Vision and
Mission, Quality policy of the industry. The report shall also be inclusive of technical details and milestone achievements of at least one big project executed by the industry. The student shall virtually/remotely study any program specific industrial process through videos available on various educational websites, You-Tube and other learning platforms. Mentor for the industrial training shall guide students in their virtual/remote learning quest. The mentor shall also develop assignments to monitor the progress of the student through virtual/remote study. The quantum of work should reflect an effort of 4/6/8 week duration.
The Industrial Training through any one of the suggested three options is to be started immediately after or maximum within 7 days of finishing their 4th Semester Examination. In extreme circumstances, where students are not able to complete their industrial training through any of the above options; a micro project may be assigned to the student in next semester (5th Semester) and that micro project may be treated as industrial training. The assessment of industrial training to be done in two parts:
- 50 percent assessment to be given by the Industry/Expert/Mentor as per the progress Made by the student during industrial training and interest taken by him/her
- 50 percent assessment by the Mentor and Head of Department on the basis of final presentation/ Viva voice/ Compiled Report submitted after completion of Industrial Training.
Few of the renowned websites offering e-learning Courses (mostly free of cost) have been explored and listed (as per Annexure A) for further dissemination to the students for their benefit. Polytechnics may create online capsules for these trainings and send it to the students. Once the situation gets normalized and Institutes are open for physical classes of the students; then some hands on training or simulator based training can be organized.
